What to expect in 2022!

A lot is coming my way in 2022. Super excited to hopefully transition into my first professional job within I.T/Cyber outside of the military. Today I just wanted to write what my focus is for 2022 and what I am going to get into throughout the coming months.

As noted in my notebook (Joplin) making it official, these are the topics I plan to take a deep dive into. With one of my resolutions for 2022 to read more books, I picked up a python crash course. The intent was to brush up on some basics I learned months back. In doing so I have sparked the love for programming again and been having a lot of fun. For example this week (I will do a writeup soon) I started working on automating network scanning within a python script. In this project I incorporated a bunch of the topics from the book to further my understanding. In addition to python I want to be more involved within the PowerShell environment. Which is why I also picked up another book (will discuss this soon).

Aside from scripting I hope to really strengthen my skills in Linux and Windows. I feel I have a strong foundation for Linux and an even better Windows understanding but I want to take it up a level. I have not yet planned out the specifics but I am sure a few books I purchased can help me get going in the right direction.

I have also set a goal from last year forward that I will work towards one cert a year (maybe more) until I am where I want to be, which may change as I start moving upwards in the cyber domain. Last year I attained the Security+ certification. This year I hope to earn the Network+ certification. I feel it is a foundational requirement to understand how networks operate. From what I gathered this year the test will be updated so I am currently waiting for some material to drop, allowing me to study.

Lastly is web exploitation. Over the last two years I have bounced from one security topic to the next. Although I still plan to do that this year as well within the different sites such as TryHackMe or even HackTheBox, I do want to focus a little more on the web side of things. I think a focus on one topic will help me get a deeper understanding. I am also interested in analyzing malware and stuff like that but I think I will put that on hold. I want to keep the list small but focused this year.

Side Note: Although I have these goals and I want to focus on these tasks, I really enjoy just dabbling in different technologies. I have a homelab for a reason. So with that being said I do plan to jump around from time to time. I am already thinking about hopping into some Arduino projects I had planned previously or even home automation projects.

Activeness: I plan to set a schedule (rough schedule) as to when I will make posts and also when I will add videos to my Youtube Channel.

Well that is it for today. I just wanted to lay out what is to come in 2022! As always Never Stop Learning.
